Data/Research

Research, evaluation and data services are integral components of Battelle for Kids' school improvement framework. Without data and the accompanying research, it is impossible to truly measure the value and effectiveness of a project, a methodology, the efficacy of a practice, or a training protocol.

Working with Battelle for Kids, educators are realizing the power data offers to support school improvement efforts. Our statisticians mine one of the largest longitudinal databases of student records comprised of SOAR value-added information at the student, classroom, grade, school and district level in all core subjects in grades 3-10. More than creating reports that measure growth, we offer concrete steps for school improvement.

Battelle for Kids also conducts research and evaluative studies, primarily around the use of value-added information for school improvement. Currently, we are developing a three-year research agenda, which will have local, regional and national implications and opportunities to help educators make data-driven decisions to improve student learning.
