SOAR Award for High Progress

Battelle for Kids Announces 2007 Award Recipients
On November 12, 2007, Battelle for Kids presented 16 Ohio schools with the 2007 SOAR Award for High Progress during the Ohio School Boards Association’s Capital Conference.

This annual award is designed to acknowledge Ohio schools participating in Battelle for Kids' SOAR School Improvement Collaborative for their high academic progress in multiple grade levels and subjects over the past three years (2005-2007).

These schools are among approximately the top 3.5 percent of schools (out of 435 eligible SOAR schools) making exceptional growth with their students.

Each school was evaluated on at least 18 indicators of effectiveness in the three most recent school years, 2005-2007. Each grade and subject represents a potential indicator of effectiveness.

Additional criteria include: above average growth during 2004-2006, consistency in school effects across grades and subjects and above average school effects on common state-administered tests in 2007.
