Differentiated Compensation Symposium
November 18, 2008, Houston, Texas
Differentiated compensation is one of many strategies some school districts and states are either implementing or investigating, with the goal of improving teacher effectiveness and student learning.
The Houston Independent School District and Battelle for Kids are cohosting a one-day symposium to provide a forum for education leaders and others to hear about differentiated-compensation programs in practice across the country.
There is no debate that differentiating educators’ compensation evokes strong positions—positive and negative. This symposium is designed to bring these issues to light and generate discussion about practical applications and lessons learned from districts and states pioneering the use of differentiated compensation.
Participants will include national, state, and district-level education leaders, policy-makers, and others who want to examine the opportunities and challenges around these programs.
