Focused Planning
Presentations in this strand will provide attendees with tools and processes to develop goals, strategies and action steps that lead to accelerated school-improvement efforts and maximized student progress.

Cultivating Commitment
These presentations will provide insight into, and strategies for, developing commitment and support among internal and external stakeholder groups (principals, teachers, staff members, parents, community members, unions and other education organizations) for school-improvement initiatives.

Building Capacity
Presentations in this strand will help attendees learn to address staffing issues, including attracting, hiring and retaining highly-effective teachers and other staff members. A critical component of building capacity focuses on providing staff members with targeted, action-oriented professional development and resources to interpret value-added information and bolster the strengths that it reveals.

Informing Practice
These presentations will provide insight on the use of value-added and formative assessment to inform responsive-teaching practices and effectively address students’ individual needs.

Recognizing Excellence
These presentations will provide insight on and discussion around various ways to recognize, celebrate and reward highly-effective schools and educators whose students make high achievement and progress. Various components of recognition programs, including vehicles to identify and share best practices and effective strategies as well as differentiated compensation, bonus pay incentives, appraisal systems, and department, school and teacher awards and other reward programs will be addressed.
